Terms of Service
These are the terms for using LifeCard. We have tried to write them the way we would explain them across a kitchen table. Using LifeCard means you agree to them.
1. What LifeCard is
LifeCard is a service that helps you remember important dates, create a personal 6×9 printed card — optionally with an AI-generated family portrait and a private video reachable by QR code — and have it printed, stamped, and mailed on your behalf. “LifeCard” also names the unit you buy: one LifeCard is one card printed and mailed to one address, with the AI portrait and private video included.
2. Your account
You need to be at least 16 to have an account, and at least 18 to make purchases. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us accurate information — especially mailing addresses, since we print what you enter.
3. Buying LifeCards
- Prices are shown before you pay and include printing and postage within the United States. There are no surprise fees.
- Packs (Family Pack, Holiday Pack) are one-time purchases, not subscriptions. LifeCards in your balance do not expire.
- A LifeCard is deducted from your balance when a card is accepted for printing, not when you press Send. If a card can’t be printed (for example, the address can’t be verified), the LifeCard returns to your balance.
- Payments are handled by Stripe, and by Apple for any in-app subscription. We don’t see or store your full card number.
4. Cancellations, refunds, and reprints
- Before printing: you can cancel or edit a scheduled card freely. A single-card purchase is refunded in full; a LifeCard from a pack returns to your balance.
- After printing: the card is in the mail and can’t be recalled.
- Unused packs: refundable within 14 days of purchase for the unused portion, at that pack’s per-card rate.
- Reprints: if a card is printed with a defect, arrives damaged, or hasn’t arrived 10 days after mailing, we reprint and re-mail it free. If the address you entered was wrong despite a verification warning, a reprint uses one LifeCard.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method.
5. Your content
Your photos, videos, messages, and the people you add are yours. You give us permission to store, process, print, and transmit them only as needed to run LifeCard — including sending the artwork and the recipient’s address to our printing partner and your photos to our AI provider to make a portrait. We do not sell your content or use it for advertising, and our AI provider may not train on it.
You are responsible for having the right to use what you upload and for the people who appear in it. Don’t send cards that are harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, unlawful, or unwanted by the recipient. Don’t use LifeCard for bulk commercial mail. We may refuse to print a card that breaks these rules, and repeated abuse can close an account.
6. Recipients and private videos
Recipients don’t need an account. Anyone who scans the QR or has the private link can watch the video; the link is unguessable but not password-protected, so don’t record anything you wouldn’t want a housemate of the recipient to see. You can delete a video at any time, which disables the link. Videos are kept for 12 months after delivery unless you delete them sooner.
7. AI-generated portraits
Portraits from the AI Photo Studio are generated images, not photographs. They carry an “AI Generated” label on screen and on the printed card. Results vary and may not be perfect; you always choose whether to use one. Don’t use the studio to make images of people who haven’t agreed to appear in your cards.
8. Delivery
We print within one business day of a card being accepted, and mail by USPS First-Class, which usually takes 3–5 business days in the Southeast and 4–6 across the rest of the contiguous U.S. (longer in December). Dates shown in the app are estimates; we don’t control the postal service. LifeCard recommends send dates and warns you when a card may arrive late, and we stand behind the reprint policy above, but we can’t guarantee arrival on a specific day.
9. Reminders
Reminders are free and best-effort. They depend on your device allowing notifications and on the dates you entered being correct. Please don’t rely on LifeCard as your only reminder for anything critical.
10. Our service, our limits
We work hard to keep LifeCard available and accurate, but it is provided “as is.” To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by contract.
11. Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If we ever discontinue LifeCard, we’ll give you notice and refund unused LifeCards.
12. Changes and the law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before the change applies. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, and disputes will be handled in its courts unless the law where you live says otherwise.
