Privacy

LifeCard exists to help you send something personal through the mail. That means we hold some personal things for you — names, addresses, photos, videos. This page says what we keep, who sees it, and how to remove it, in plain language.

What we store

Only what the product needs to work:

  • Your account. Your name, email address (or Apple ID relay address if you sign in with Apple), and your sign-in credentials. We never see your password if you use Sign in with Apple.
  • People and dates. The names, relationships, mailing addresses, and important dates (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays) you add for the people you send cards to. If you import from Contacts, we store only the contacts you pick, not your whole address book.
  • Photos. The photos you upload for a card or for the AI Photo Studio, and the portraits the studio produces from them.
  • Videos. The videos you record or upload for a card, plus a transcoded copy for playback and, if enabled, generated captions.
  • Cards and messages. The designs you choose, the headlines and messages you write, and the print-ready file for each card.
  • Delivery and engagement events. When a card was printed, handed to USPS, delivered, when its QR was scanned, and when the video was watched — so you can see the card landed.
  • Purchases. What you bought and when, and the number of LifeCards remaining. We do not store card numbers (see Payments).
  • Device and diagnostics. A push-notification token if you allow reminders, your time zone (so reminders arrive at a sensible hour), and error logs when something breaks.

Videos are private-link only

Every video is behind an unguessable private link printed as a QR code on the back of the card. Anyone with that link can watch the video — it is not listed, searchable, or indexed anywhere, and playback links are signed and expire. Recipients do not need an account. The recipient page sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party analytics; the only identifier is a random value kept in the viewer’s own browser so we can count a scan once.

You can delete a video at any time from the card in the app. Deleting it makes the QR link stop working immediately. Videos are otherwise kept for 12 months after the card is delivered, then deleted.

Who sees your information

  • Our printing and mailing partners receive the recipient’s name and mailing address, your return address, and the card artwork — the minimum needed to print, stamp, and mail the card. They are not permitted to use it for anything else.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details go directly to them; we receive a confirmation and the last four digits.
  • AI portraits are generated by an AI image provider under contract. Your photos are sent to produce the portrait and are not used to train their models.
  • Address verification checks the mailing address you entered against postal records so cards don’t go astray.
  • Push notifications are delivered through a notification service; it receives your device token and the reminder text.
  • Infrastructure providers host our database, media storage, and video streaming.

We share information with these providers only to provide LifeCard to you. We do not otherwise share it, and we will disclose it to authorities only when the law requires.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell or rent your information, your recipients’ information, your photos, or your videos to anyone, and we do not use them for advertising. The people you send cards to are your people, not our mailing list — we never contact them.

AI-generated images

Portraits made in the AI Photo Studio are labeled “AI Generated” on screen and on the printed card, and the print file carries a machine-readable marker saying the same. Only you decide whether to use one.

Deleting your information

You can delete individual people, photos, videos, and cards at any time inside the app. To delete your entire account, go to Profile → Settings → Delete account in the app or in the web app. Deleting your account removes your people, photos, videos, drafts, and reminders within 30 days. We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and cards that are already printed cannot be recalled from the mail.

If you can’t get into the app, email support@lifecard.app from the address on your account and we will do it for you.

Children

LifeCard is for adults. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 16. Photos and videos of your family, including children, are yours; we store them only to make and deliver your cards.

Where your information lives

Our servers are in the United States. If you use LifeCard from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.

Your choices and rights

  • Turn reminders off at any time in the app or in your phone’s notification settings.
  • Ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing support@lifecard.app.
  • Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the CCPA or GDPR; we honor them regardless of where you are.

Changes

If we change this page in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
